The Experience-Driven Site for Wiseman's Bridge Inn
Designing a website for a traditional seaside pub and accommodation like the Wiseman's Bridge Inn is an exercise in conveying hospitality, location, and comprehensive service. Unlike corporate or medical sites, this project required an aesthetic that feels warm, inviting, and steeped in local charm, focusing entirely on the visitor experience: EAT • DRINK • STAY.
The Commission: Translating Heritage into a Digital Destination
The Inn's history (established since 1954) and its exceptional Pembrokeshire location were the heart of the brief. The website needed to serve as the primary marketing tool for three separate but integrated revenue streams: the pub/restaurant, the Bed & Breakfast, and the camping/touring park.
The key objectives were:
Emphasize Location: Showcase the Inn’s unique position right on the beach, leveraging the "magic of Wiseman's Bridge."
Clarity of Offerings: Clearly segment and promote the diverse accommodation and dining options.
Facilitate Booking: Provide direct, simple pathways for booking both stays and contacting the team for table reservations.
Our Design Strategy: Visual Immersion and Functional Hospitality
Our approach used visual storytelling and clear organization to mimic the ease and warmth of the Inn's family welcome.
Aesthetic: Rustic and Coastal: The design aesthetic is immersive and visually rich. The use of high-quality photographs is paramount, showcasing the beer garden sweeping down to the beach, the cozy interior, and the natural beauty of the area. This imagery immediately sells the "experience." The color palette would draw from the seaside—blues, sand tones, and whites—evoking a peaceful, holiday atmosphere.
Experience-Driven Navigation: The main navigation is concise and centered on the customer's intent: Home, Stay, About, Contact.
The "Stay" Hub: The "Stay" section is critical and immediately directs users to the different accommodation options: Wiseman's House (luxury apartments), Bed & Breakfast, Camping & Touring Park, and the Waterfront Apartments. This modular listing acts as a mini-catalogue, making it easy to find the right "product."
EAT & DRINK: Dedicated sections for dining clearly list menus (Winter Lunchtime, Evening, Sunday Lunch, Buffets) and, crucially, provide all necessary operating hours and a clear policy that outside and bar tables are "first come first served," managing customer expectations transparently.
Building Trust through History and Location:
The Welcome: The opening text immediately references the Inn's long tenure ("since 1954") and the Kemble Family’s commitment, establishing heritage and a warm, non-corporate welcome.
Local Information: The inclusion of local details, such as the proximity to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and a link to tide times, is a small but powerful design choice that signals local knowledge and care for the visitor's experience, increasing perceived value.
Accessibility and Booking Facilitation: Multiple contact pathways are provided to accommodate all guests: separate phone numbers for the Office and the Bar, and a clear instruction to book stays online or via the office. Detailed office opening hours further support the functional clarity of the site.
The Result: A Digital Welcome Mat
The Wiseman's Bridge Inn website is a highly effective, experience-driven platform. It successfully merges the charm of a traditional, family-run business with the necessary functionality of a modern hospitality booking engine. The design prioritizes stunning location imagery and clear logistical information, making it easy for a visitor to transition from browsing to booking their seaside holiday.
